We honor veterans

WHV 2020 - Level 4At Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, we understand the unique needs of America’s veterans and their families. As a Level Four Founding Community Partner with We Honor Veterans, we are honored to serve our nation’s heroes and take this responsibility seriously. We have taken steps to ensure our staff is knowledgeable of all the benefits available to military veterans and their families.

In addition, we host community events annually in honor of our veterans and work closely with local veterans organizations. With respect, integrity and dignity, we will walk you through the steps of creating a veteran’s memorial service that truly honors the life and sacrifice of your loved one.

The Homeless Veterans Burial Program provides a dignified burial service at no charge for eligible homeless and indigent veterans, ensuring they receive the honor merited by their service. We also give Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion members a discount on funeral or cremation services and merchandise, plus a free flag case, aftercare planner and access to our 24-hour Compassion Helpline®.

Serving White Lake

Visitation room at Elton Black & Son Funeral HomeTo further show our dedication to White Lake, our funeral home staff supports local clubs, charities and groups in our area. Our Public Servants Program provides dignified and honorable burials—at no cost—for career and volunteer law enforcement officers, firefighters and emergency services personnel who fall in the line of duty.

We also know the loss of a child is unimaginable and offer the Cherished Infant Program for families experiencing financial hardships during this loss. In the event that a family needs to take advantage of this program, our staff will cover any service or merchandise expenses the family may have associated with the death of an infant—at no cost to the family.

Donate Life program

The annual Donate Life Rose Parade Float is the heart of a national campaign that inspires people to save the lives of grateful recipients by registering to be organ, eye and tissue donors. Each year, Dignity Memorial® sponsors floragraphs—floral portraits made from organic materials featured on the float—that honor individual deceased organ donors. These sponsorships give families a special opportunity to honor their loved one and tell their donation story.
